@cirriustech unfortunately, sometimes it requires spicy and hot additions to your usual thoughts to spark a discussion. You have to provoke people to give feedback sometimes, but there is no generic advice, it depends on your audience and what it is likely to react to. Usual influencer stuff I guess.
Comparing and contrasting app privacy policies for Threads, Bluesky, Twitter and Mastodon:

Mastodon fixes critical “TootRoot” vulnerability allowing node hijacking

Most critical of the bugs allowed attackers to root federated instances.

@makemake @mmcd yeah, that, or they co-conspire to cover the tracks of a security breach. Fundamentally, ransomware operators want ransom paid and company wants its functionality restored. These goals overlap and are both disrupted by a theoretical government ban. And when the goal is there, it's only a matter of technique to achieve it.

@kazdalevsky нет, просто необучаемы, that's all.

@GossiTheDog well, say if you also got a browser chain and want to serve a targeted one to instance users...
@jerry that's certainly a hot take of mine but I think that if Twitter migrations caps at a certain size, it is probable that donations remain a sustainable model of keeping Mastodon alive and quality of communication to remain authentic and high. Hot take: I don't think that donations are a sustainable model for many use cases, especially like Mastodon being Twitter replacement. But I also think that M does not have to be T replacement. Neither do I think that Lemmy or Kbin should be replacements for Reddit. If a sufficient number of specialized population currently platformed at Twitter or (especially) Reddit could switch, it wouldn't reach the size where platforms need to earn enormous ad revenue to keep themselves afloat and it also could keep the cat posters and alike out of this place, deep down in the Facebook wasteland or Twitter toxic pool. That would solve the revenue problem and prevent internal degradation as well.
