Been online since ARPAnet and NSFnet days. Passionate about IT security and privacy for decades.  user since they started. Wear my nerd badges with honour. I have a very patient wife.

Here is a fun (dark) thought: You know how there are now three interstellar objects that have entered our solar system from Far Away of late, with a lot of attention and speculation about their origin and composition?

What if they are all a part of the same, massive, object (or nearby objects) that blew apart and are all sending their remnants our way - and We Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet?

Given the state of our planet at the moment, maybe it’s not such a dark thought after all.

It’s the Director’s Cut of Napoleon Dynamite that I’m more interested in.
I am probably not the first to notice this, but, in visionOS, floating windows have two controls beneath them. A dot and a dash. A dit and a dah. Which, as we all know, is Morse Code for the letter A. A is for Apple.

So. Apple Vision Pro. Wow.

Having a tough time leaving Bora Bora. Can almost smell the SPF50.

Nine. Good turn out.
Have managed to gain the partial trust of a Rainbow Lorikeet. A pair visit pretty much daily, and one of them now eagerly runs over to me on the balcony and will nibble a grape or sunflower seeds right out of my hand. Took a few months, but he seems to look forward to the interaction as much as I do.

And more drama during our JP trip: https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20240104_31/

And we watched it from our room:

Pro-tip for travellers in JP: Avoid Shin-Osaka station if you can. In particular, avoid four hour delays due to fully booked trains back to the sanity of Tokyo. Ugh.
Tsunami hitting along coasts. :-( 5m height expected.
