I stopped posting on the Birdsite a few weeks ago but kept peeking in to see how the dumpster fire was burning. As innocuous as an icon change seems, it makes me realise that we ain't ever going back to how things were, and that it's probably time to say goodbye to it properly. (As an aside, I suspect that nothing in those release notes is factually accurate.)
It's not my car, and I don't know who's it was, but finding this immaculate 1988 Ferrari Testarossa outside the office warranted a photo. Plus it left me playing Magical Sound Shower in my head for HOURS.
(I'm sorry, I didn't add a content warning to the above. To be honest I'd be torn as to whether to warn against exaggerated threat, or atrocious public information messaging design.)
Also pleased to see that Scarborough has kept its
@scarfolk -like signs warning against feeding the seagulls. They're wonderfully bleak and I enjoy them very much.
Made the most of the sunshine today before the weather turns and ended up in Scarborough on the north east coast for big views, fish and chips on the beach, and a lemon top for the stroll along the promenade. A decent day ☀️🍦
Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 was everything I needed it to be. Maybe not quite as tight as Fallout (and no moustachioed Henry Cavill, boo) but as it's a two-parter I'll forgive it, and the epic action sequences make up for any lull in between. Satisfying.
I'm not posting to Threads, and I've no plans to, but I am dipping in to see how it's going. Today's observation is that it has the combined benefits of the algorithmic timeline AND a plethora of 'nature is amazing' and 'best historical facts' spam accounts which are, of course, injected into your timeline. The instinct to veer away has become a hard swerve.
I'm launching a new social media app. It's called BIRB. This is the logo. It's the only app that demands you crochet, knit or embroider your posts.
Posts are called 'Yarns', editing a Yarn is called Darning, threads are called Tapestries, pile-ons are Shag Piles, blocking is called Black-Sheeping.
#BIRBThat said, I've created an account to protect my username, and then swiftly removed the app again.
Feeling conflicted about the new place. On one hand, anything that'll bruise the ego of SpaceKaren™ can only be a good thing, but that so many people are simply flocking from one billionaire narcissist to another makes me so sad.
