Literally stuck in an open file in vim because I'm editing the file in a remote shell from Firefox and I can't hit escape without it being intercepted by the Vimum extension.
My new NAS has much louder disks than the old NAS but in practice I have noticed a lot less seeking noise from the disks. ZFS caching seems to be the key factor. I'm a ZFS convert.
Watching the progress of US elections the last few weeks makes me much more hopeful for the rest of the world including The Netherlands. Good or bad, whatever happens in the US has an effect across the whole world.
Can't believe Little Bobby Tables is all grown up and has had their first kid, Ignore All Previous Instructions
At least for now, cash or card still works, so I'm not completely dead in the water but I fear UPI will eventually phase out these alternatives.

Setting up UPI is a real pain in the ass.

The system needs an Indian phone number and an Indian bank account linked with the Indian phone number. I have a bank account but it's linked to my Dutch number. Updating the phone number is a typical Indian bureaucratic process.

Finally I came across the wonderful guys at CheqUPI, aimed specifically at people like me (and tourists). Straightforward process to set up but loading money on the account incurs an overhead of 2.95% of payment gateway fees.

No wonder India is transforming rapidly.

Four years ago, I paid 149 rupees for a 2 GB data pack.

Today I got a 50 GB data pack for 200 rupees.

My laptop weirdly locked up yesterday during a Meet call. I rebooted and it happened a few minutes later. Again and again. Half a day of trying to figure out what was going on and it finally turned out to be a faulty RAM.

Also, blinking caps lock == kernel panic. I'm sure I knew this at some point and missed this big clue as to what was going on.

Mobile apps in India are all trying to emulate WeChat / AliPay. It's frightening the way all of this seems to be heading towards.
One of the more frustrating things about a global world centred around American culture is that English language has gravitated towards American idiosyncrasies. Spelling differences I can live with, it's the imperial units and date formats that cause too much confusion for my liking.
