Finally, Taz (our partner) got my handwriting over his pubic area. He was really intrigued with having me permanently call him what he acknowledges he is, and it has been a point of pride for him (and me) to have my handwriting directly over such a sensitive area.
Chris went with a much sillier and recognizable theme, where they took the “THANK YOU” shopping bag design and turned it into their own reclamation with an image that is disarming and at the same time, powerful.
my tattoo is actually based off the typography and styling of graffiti from the Claremont-era of X-Men comics where the slur for mutants, “Mutie” was seen tagged on bodies and walls. Most notably it was seen on two children in the graphic novel, “God Loves, Man Kills.”
i wanted my tattoo to be nerdy and reference my formative years while also embracing and reclaiming a slur i’ve heard all my life, so i had one of my best friends design the tattoo with that in mind.
Since a couple people have asked me about my “faggot” tattoo, i figured i’d show y’all that all three of us at home have our own versions.
