Reader (Associate Professor) in microbiology at the University of Warwick. Making and breaking biofilms to understand and treat chronic infection.
Warwick Life Sciences will be holding a fellowships day on 13th March - if you might like to apply for a fellowship in an awesome department, there is info here: https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/lifesci/research/fellowships/ and I'd be happy to chat to any #microbiology #ECR who's interested.

Excellent new review of the molecular mechanisms of #AntibioticResistance #AMR from the Blair and Webber labs: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41579-022-00820-y
Molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance revisited - Nature Reviews Microbiology

In this Review, Blair, Webber and colleagues explore our understanding of the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance, including reduced permeability, antibiotic efflux, modification or alteration of the antibiotic target, modification or destruction of the drug itself, and bypass of metabolic pathways. They also discuss how this information can aid in developing the next generation of antimicrobial therapies.

I’m aiming to start using mastodon more in 2023 to share the microbiology my group is doing, but as I’m still on hols here’s the last page of my current #calligraphy #bookbinding project being written. Having creative hobbies helps me maintain some semblance of sanity…

PhD opportunity in my group of Statistical #Physics of #Complex #Systems at Coventry University.

Interested in #graphs, #networks and #algorithms? Join us to study a new #ensemble of complex networks focusing on #correlations, and determine its relations to the degree-sequence and degree-distribution ensembles, to discover mesoscopic drivers in the #evolution of complex systems.

Please boost widely and feel free to send to possible interested candidates.
