Swedish Computer software handyman working in climate tech. Happy mountain biker. Often found fiddling with Home Assistant.

Daily #homeassistant lesson - #heating.
For several months, I regulated the temperature in my office using 2 simple automations: turn the radiator pump on/off.
There is a 'better' way: using #genericthermostat and #scheduler components:

1. Configure a Generic thermostat in your configuration.yaml (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/generic_thermostat/)
(you need one temperature sensor and one switch)

Hi Mastodon! I built a random comic generator that makes horrible comics about therapy. It's NSFW and, well .. horrible. If you generate a good one, post it in the comments.

Spent the afternoon with #homeassistant creating a binary sensor that figures out if electricity price is among the N cheapest hours during the day, and if so, raise the temperature of a thermostat - obviously decreasing it when the price goes high again.

Found this webpage very helpful: https://www.creatingsmarthome.com/index.php/2022/09/17/home-assistant-nord-pool-spot-prices-and-how-to-automate-devices-for-cheapest-hours/

The weirdest part of post crypto-bubble life will be everyone pretending it didn't happen. Millions of lives wrecked, and nobody will ask the VCs or influencers, "Hey, remember that time you shilled a Ponzi scheme?"
