I added graphics to illustrate the relationship of the π/# number to the angle of view:
I wish all my app designs had the confidence of FileMerge, who picked a layout in NEXTSTEP in the early 90s and for the most part hasn't thought to change a pixel since

In #photography, lenses are often advertised with a specific focal length (24 mm, 50 mm, …). Since this is dependent on in the camera’s sensor size and doesn't work well with cropping, I have been thinking about a different notation.

Here, I propose the π/# notation (π/2.1, π/3.8, …) that is more image-centric and independent of camera systems. Let me know what you think:

Angle of view: π/#

A sensor-independent notation for the frame of an image.

aaaaaaaaaa! There it is!

My friend @koeberlin’s brand new typeface Tausend is out. So, so good … 😍

As an addition to my @LittleBigLetter project (lowercase ß in all-caps writing), here is the elusive capital ẞ in use:

Rainbow Rocket is here! A self-striping colour font family with 21 colour styles, some for free, some paid for. Shapes based on Arugula (an earlier font of mine that also means "rocket"); colours based on a variety of mostly found things.

Here i show examples from my Garden, gifted toys, and a font specimen i found at the Letterform Archive.

Share and Enjoy! (please boost)

I wrote a program to lipsync the shipping forecast in a terminal window, and I have no regrets.

In my @atypi presentation about the Skeena Indigenous project, I spoke about how we shouldn’t presume non-literate societies lacked ways to record and transmit information.

Today, I came across this Diné (Navajo) cantillation aide-mémoire, painted on muslin cloth for easy transport. The prayer sticks illustrated along the bottom indicate the sequence of chants and their repetition.
