I was considering moving away from 1Password because it was getting so darn sluggish on my Mac, and it only got worse in recent months.
Turns out: I had the Intel Mac version installed, no easy way to find out, and I was not the only one (see link)… now with the correct Apple ARM version it runs fast as ever! @dave please find a way with your team to make users aware before they leave you for this. https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password/performance-issues-with-1password-for-mac-8-10-78-desktop-app/156925

Können wir #Männer das hier mal bekannter machen? Also zumindest alle, die es ebenfalls fassungslos macht, dass wir 42 Jahre nach Ina Deters Riesenhit "Neue Männer braucht das Land" immer noch mit so viel toxischer Männlichkeit zu kämpfen haben. Es ist letztlich das Grundübel, dem wir fast alle bekannten menschengemachten Probleme zu verdanken haben, von Kriegen über Terror bis zur Planetenverbrennung. Ein Grundübel, das viele Männer überhaupt erst mal in sich selbst am Werk finden und erkennen müssen. Dann besteht auch Hoffnung. #MachDichStarkMann!

out of the same „MUST HAVE NOW!“ instinct I found out yesterday that doing the device-to-device transfer still needs an internet connection for both devices… 1) don‘t leave WiFi with transfer ongoing, 2) dont tether to a third phone during the second try whilst in the car, because that phone will link to carplay and stop tethering… 3) family will not join your celebration dance when the third try finally succeeded whilst out for dinner.

@imyke the fact that this is news tells a lot about the state of Vision OS progress. Here we are, celebrating an animated background picture eagerly waiting for the improved virtual Mac screen … and that’s basically it, right?

@leyrer „of all places“ ist Mastodon doch auch ein soziales Medium in dem sich lang nicht mehr nur technokratie-kritische Menschen mit einheitlichem Wertesystem bewegen. Vielleicht ist es aus diversen Gründen nicht optimal, wenn YouTube mitverdient. Gleichwohl: es ist ein offizieller Kanal des CCC dort, also implizit auch eine Legitimation des Teilens dieser Inhalte via YT, oder?

So… i just paid Meta 10 bucks to spare me advertising on Facebook and Insta. After years of „I‘d give them money if I could, to stop being the product“ I felt almost obliged.
Maybe this will also accelerate the time until I close down the accounts? Facebook is only a window to notifications from a few people, not something I use actively anymore, and Insta has lost most of its appeal when they jumped on the video train :-/
