The complexity and problem-solving required for making the Signal Protocol quantum safe are as daunting as any in modern-day engineering. In less adept hands, mucking about with an instrument as complex as the Signal protocol could have led to shortcuts or unintended consequences. Yet this latest post-quantum upgrade is nothing short of a triumph.

Regarding the "unspecified Linux vulnerability" that the author has been "hyping the shit out of" (their words) all week -

It's accidentally leaked, due to an unpaid open source maintainer making a boo boo.

It's in CUPS, a printing subsystem. It isn't Linux specific.

CUPS isn't faced much to the internet, I've checked and done a Shodan Safari. It also isn't installed by default on Linux server installs for almost all distros.

It's not a big deal, update packages are dropping, don't panic.

if you happen to be in montreal at northsec 2024… we might see each other without knowing it ;-)

I'm at #nsec2024 and as always it's fun and interesting. Listening "Reverse-Engineering Nim Malware: Or a brief tale of analyzing the compiler for a language I had never used". Great talk @barberousse_bin
