HCW by day, metalhead by night, setting up shop here for when Twitter goes boom. Also loves classical music, art, weights, sf/f/h, cats. Jewish (quite lapsed), left, bi. He/him.

What the hell, YouTube? Never in a million years!

(I mean, yes, I did write a batshit piece of fiction¹ that included those god-forsaken devices, but it took place in the Fourth Circle of Hell... which is where those things belong. In Hell.)

Esperanto: "Mi iris al la puto por trinki ion."

Spanish: "Yo fui al puto para beber algo."

In English: "I went to the [puto] to drink something."

In Esperanto, "puto" is a well (for water). In Spanish, "puto" is a very rude word for "man-whore," or a guy who's into dick (probably not water).

(Bonus content because the character limit is much higher here than on Bluesky:)

Esperanto has two words for drink. The verb "trinki" is the usual one, and "drinki" is the one that explicitly means alcohol. Similarly, "trinkaĵo" is just a drink, and "drinkaĵo" is a stiff drink. And in Esperanto, the emphasis is ALWAYS on the next-to-last syllable of a word, which means it's kinda easy to miss that distinction if you're saying the words out loud.

Earlier this year, one of my patients asked me if I remembered her daughter (also one of my patients). She thanked me for my kindness and good work, and told me that her daughter wouldn't be coming in anymore. I often have to give a kleenex to a patient; it's rare that I also have to take one myself.

I may have mentioned... I am too soft for this fucking job.

And yet! One of the reasons I'm really fucking good at this job? I'm the right kind of too soft.

Me, a professional at work, to a patient: "I'm very happy to see you again."

Me, in my heart: "I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU FOR MONTHS! I'VE MISSED THE HELL OUT OF YOU, AND I FEARED THAT YOU WERE DEAD! BUT HERE YOU ARE, AND MY HEART SINGS FOR YOU!"

I am too fucking soft for this job.

"¿Adonde vamos?"

"¡AL INFIERNO!"

¡Estoy muy feliz! ¡Yo entendí muchas palabras españolas en la película de terror "Saw X"!

"Where are we going?"

"TO HELL!"

I'm so happy! I understood a lot of Spanish words in Saw X! #horror

At least this one's not on the radio anymore...

I've been on Bluesky a lot lately, but will try to remember to be here, too. So let me whine a bit!

I have nothing against this singer: she's absolutely gorgeous, she has that hip twisty thing, and she's not really a bad singer... but I've heard this song a million times on other people's radios. and I hate it beyond all reason.

I had a very strange dream, early this morning. In it, I told a story, around a campfire, about a human in a preposterous sex act with two miniature aliens... and McDonald's heard my story and named their latest sandwich "The Amok-Amok-Amok," after the noises they all made. Why, brain, why?
Tomorrow, a bunch of Twitter users are going to abstain from Twitter for the whole day. Some of us will still need to get our fixes, and may remember that mastodon exists. Brace yourselves a little?
A while back, I posted about having seen a family of ducks. Today, it's chickens.
