@maxleibman @GossiTheDog I've seen one set that I fully approve of: those from the Haggis Wildlife Foundation (https://youtube.com/@haggiswildlifefoundation).

@LukefromDC @ProPublica if you're of the attitude "better no punishment than inadequate punishment" then I guess there's nothing more to say, but that kind of purity demand rarely ends well.

@LukefromDC @ProPublica that's all well and good but I'm not talking about anything in front of a jury. You're jumping *way* ahead there. I'm talking first about something that *can be passed into law.*

If you think you're going to get a legislature (in which attorneys are almost certainly overrepresented with quite a few having prosecution backgrounds) to agree to pass something that calls for prosecutors to face capital charges then you're delusional. Getting misconduct officially codified as a criminal activity deserving of prosecution would already be an extreme lift that could likely only happen as a direct and immediate response to a wrongful execution getting huge public attention.

@LukefromDC @ProPublica overreach gets you nowhere and all-or-nothing gets you nothing.
@drdrowland @404mediaco nah, designing to fail expensively would be very poor judgement. They're going to end up on their sides or otherwise abused (see also canal scooters), any company running them is going to want them trivial to get back in operation.
@drdrowland @404mediaco sure, but I'm not sure how you'd get to anything beyond a ticketable offense. I suspect there'd be a strong preference to avoid any kind of charges for which someone could request a jury trial, and IIRC don't most civil infractions need to be written when they're witnessed by the officer issuing the citation?
@404mediaco I'm curious about the legality of simply placing them on their sides. I'm really not sure what if any laws that might violate.
@jaykuo checking ID before entering the screening area doesn't mean it's not checked at screening, it just means that useless iceholes are adding even more annoyance to the whole process for no reason except theater.
