How tired am I?I'm exhausted all the time.
I've always wanted to put out some small games with Unity, and move to Unreal if I ever got "serious" with it. I don't have the time as a hobbyist developer and parent to move an active project to a new engine, especially when I rely on third party plugins.
After the Open Letter, I don't feel like I have to, and I can just get on with it. But my feelings to these projects is more "get it out" than "learn new Unity skills!" - maybe that's just better regardless.

It's shocking that Unity ever had to backtrack to the stunningly obvious: Installs is only relevant to the Mobile space. Sales matters everywhere else. You can't retroactively force TOS on previous LTS releases.
This stuff is so basic that it was inevitably going to get challenged in court, and the people who put it out are presumably running Unity still.

This forces developers to be holding Unity to account, keeping the pressure on, and generally sours any relationship with the company.

I'm seeing such a wide range of responses to Unity's new plan. I think it definitely hits different depending on how you use Unity. Genuinely, I think increasing prices for their top tier of customers is fair game, and the new deal is a win for the smallest indies.

However. The people who proposed the first Runtime Fee are still steering the ship. The fact that no heads have rolled is a hard barrier against restoring trust.

Help I can't stop playing the single player puzzle game I made!

The only problem is I'm finding it very challenging to come up with valid board states. Well done if you can guess the rules from this photo!

This might call for a paper prototype.
Fuck. I've thought of a *really* tight puzzle game concept, and written out all the rules in just one page of the tiniest notebook.
This has completely detached my brain from everything else I have to do today 😬
I think about this a lot. Every game is a miracle. #GameDev

uh.. is it a thing to spend ages carefully writing out a couple hundred lines of code, think really carefully about it all, and then just... not want to run it?

I just got it out of my head, I'm so scared about having to inevitably debug it :(
