@rspfau It can also be used to speed up the processes such as literature review. I don't think in any near future, it will be possible for any AI to come up with an experimental design to uncover a scientific phenomenon.
@rspfau I don't think we should use it without oversight. It is in the very end a bot to generate text. It cannot do a scientist's job which is to analyze complex data, and connect the dots to contribute to science.
ChatGPT is here to stay, there's nothing to worry about it. It is a tool to produce writing, as calculator is a tool to do math. I think embracing it and figuring out how it can improve our productivity should be our goal instead of banning it. It might also come handy to increade diversity in science. There are so many scientists out there whose first language is not English. I believe these tools would help English speaking world to understand their peers' scientific contributions. #ChatGPT
@Constababble Let's start here. Avril Lavigne died and was replaced, change my mind. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avril_Lavigne_replacement_conspiracy_theory

@herrbischoff I'm glad I can find people who have used both Linux and Mac.
@herrbischoff Follow up: iTerm2 was a game changer, thank you for the pro tip. It also supports focus following the mouse pointer that makes life much easier.
@Granneman I'll look into it and ask the IT if we can install it. Thank you.
@Granneman It should have been just "I'll look into it." Sorry about the confusion. Fixing it now.
@herrbischoff But to be frank, this computer is a very fine machine, it is very energy efficient and everything. I will also check iTerm2. That might be what I need after all.
@herrbischoff I definitely agree on all these points. To be clear, my first laptop was a Mac, it's the computer I appreciated the utility of the terminal for the first time. However, what made me stop using a Mac was the Apple designers' choices to remove the user control more and more at every OS release, rendering many things inconvenient. I couldn't believe that it had come to such an extent that you cannot even tile stuff anymore. It enraged me, lol.
