Alrighty, I'm doing this.

If everything works well (and why shouldn't it? =D), follows and old posts and everything ought to be soon available on: @evilham

Thanks to @gotosocial's backdating feature.

Next up, I'll be getting rid of pix.unchat.cat (pixelfed), and use the gallery template with #GoToSocial for a more artsy and picture-oriented profile.

@z3r0 @evilham thank you and @MeDueleLaTeta!
I just spammed myself with all local emotes (e.g.    ) so I have less issues importing my old posts with a backdate :-)

My guess is that after a couple days of the bots and actually importing the account, things will look just fine :-D

@gotosocial is really neat!

@evilham @evilham @gotosocial nope, but you can still subscribe to bots that boost thematic content. Such as the ones living at https://tagpush.app.

For example, if you follow <at>gotosocial<at>tagpush.app bot then you receive all the boosts from content with the #gotosocial tag.

Check https://verbamea.com/4dd1a1ca55 for more info about the bots/tags you can follow.

You can also follow FediBuzz bots. Those can be used to obtain content by from complete instances, tags or even specific languages.

Be careful when following bots that serve content from big instances because that could consume a lot of memory of your server.

Alrighty fedipeeps, I need some help with #GoToSocial.

Already set it up. t's working and federating just fine!

However, before I jump wagon migrating my account there (btw, it's @evilham): I don't seem to find a way to configure fediverse relays, and so the instance feels dead :-D.

When setting up mastodon that's about the first thing I do and leave it for about 48h to cache and discover things before actually using the new instance.

Does @gotosocial support relays?

Just so you know, we need to push back against privacy-invasive regulations.
Each and every time.

Shrugging and using a VPN will not save you. They will come for the VPNs next.
Then the ISPs.
Then more.

Pushing against unjust laws matters.
The tools alone will not save you in the long run.

#Privacy #PrivacyLaw #AgeVerification

Just to repeat / recap what others have said already.

"No politics in my #OpenSource project" is a political statement. It's a statement of "I'm fine with the status quo, and I don't want to be bothered by people who are hurt because of it."

"Neutrality" doesn't make you look professional. It makes you either look ignorant or complacent.

The whole #FreeSoftware movement is a political movement. So is the idea that you can freely use, modify and redistribute software.

So you should really think where you want to stand. Do you really want to be the complacent fascist enabler, or do you want to actually try making a difference?

Long story short: I checked the documentation for #GoToSocial and will probably be migrating to an instance I'll be running for myself and the same usual few people =D

I have noticed that I do not use the fediverse as much as I otherwise would, because of storage usage and because I have the feeling that certain things would not be entirely welcome on the server.

Which is fine, I think it's a misinterpretation of the server rules, regarding politics on the timeline (could be unlisted, yep, but, still), but the fact that I feel like I have to think about that, means I filter some things out, and end up just skipping the whole fedi thing :-/
