I do not know how modern smartphone culture works. A blog seems way better. Regardless, let's connect!

Pocket Monsters, [old]Nintendo, and JRR Tolkien own. I need to add my SimpleX for IMing.

Typed up a response, as I get rather excited about #Tolkien, but it seems nuance is not allowed in the shortform playskool walled gardens. So this link is simply a 1025 character limit countermeasure, not advertising:

Gave this a listen. As usual with any #Tolkien discussion, they are limited by an over-indulgence in the adaptations. So even with an intention from the get-go, they still have a hard time seeing the book on it's own. The hosts miss the mark many times partially due to this. I can also tell how few times they have read the book. That being said, I feel so refreshed listening to these guys. Only their unique background could afford them this perspective; they can't afford to spend all their time geeking out about Tolkien alone. The hosts are intelligent, enthusiastic, very well spoken readers. Quite the real deal. It is rare to find such good discussion of Tolkien online. Fans of Tolkien's work need more such nuanced and heartfelt discussion. Now, just as the son of Gloin found peril in the beauty of the lady of the Golden Wood, I too wish I had happened upon this later when the trilogy was complete. Waiting is agony, and memory and enthusiasm may fade. As a token, ... oh, a character limit :/

@ronak Koi-koi is only one game, played using the hanafuda deck. There are many other games which use the same deck! I found the koi-koi yaku (sets) to be overwhelming... so I started with the hawaiian game "Sakura/Higobana" instead.

The situation you encountered is called a "hiki". The opponent may also be new and not have played much, because I would have waited as long as I could before revealing that. Especially given the Koi-koi rules.

@Feufochmar I never would have considered playing, but now I am interested thanks to your insight. Thank you. If they make a sequel with more areas or the whole region, I would definitely play some day.
@mikaialia Agreed. I have been eating cold food for a few weeks. For my next temporary accommodation, I am prioritising a microwave.
@mulder An ereader. My man! Also that sticker; your handle really does reference the show =O

@mulder There are slots you can solder in, which let you replace batteries simply by removing from the slot instead of soldering the battery directly.

Also sounds like you need a way to backup your saves.

@mulder Not Yellow; I don't dig that version. This one I am playing is RGB which has been modified to look like GS.

Pokemon Stadium, awesome! Those games rule. That stinks about the transfer pack, man. You gotta get a new one to savor the full experience.

@Feufochmar I asked a friend about Pokopia, and they said it's like Pokemon Crossing. But does it actually have the games' regions where one may visit SS Anne?
Gazing off the prow of the S.S. Anne, into the sunset, with my #pokemon friends.
