Dear pencil manufacturers, please stop wrapping pencils in plastic. It’s unnecessary, wasteful, and makes them essentially unsharpenable. Stop it!
If, like me, you never seem to remember your kid’s (or your own) library card, I suggest making a digital version. As an example, at the Alameda Free Library the bar code on the physical cards is encoded with codabar, but the readers can also read the more standard Code 128 encoding.
The screenshot is of the Apple Wallet pass I made using MakePass, but even using an image from a Code 128 online generator will work. Just make sure it’s not wider than the real card when displayed on your phone.
