It's amazing to me how I can serve over 100k RPS from the Hello World Deno server on my Mac. This is such a great performance baseline to start from when building a server.

#Deno

One month ago we got a Tern GSD cargo e-bike to be able to take both kids around the city. The bike is expensive and we were unsure how much we’d _actually_ use it — we estimated two days per week.

In the last month, I used it 20 days averaging 7.1mi per day. My wife used it 8 days averaging 3.5mi per day.

The Tern GSD is now our primary vehicle for getting around the city for school drop-offs, work commute, playgrounds, and shopping.

My three year old independently designed a car which resembles one of the most talked about vehicle designs in decades. 🤡🛻

I connected a pair of the new HomePod 2s to our Apple TV. The voice and mid-range sounds are louder and clearer compared to the HomePod 1, which make these much nicer for TV speakers.

I’d recommend upgrading each component to 16.3.1 independently before connecting the HomePods as a stereo pair and as Apple TV speakers.

For this setup I…

* Created a “public” VLAN to isolate the RPi on the network

* Running Mastodon via Docker Compose on the RPi

* Using Cloudflare Tunnels to serve traffic from the Internet

Yesterday I decided to self-host this Mastodon instance on a Raspberry Pi running in my home.

The RPi was just sitting here doing nothing. It’s an RPi 4 with 8GB RAM and a 256GB NVMe SSD boot drive — more than enough for hosting a single-user Mastodon instance.

I tried using Linode, but it seemed too expensive as you need at least 2GB of RAM for Mastodon.
