Human. Mostly water.
@torgo Old Macbooks make great Linux laptops. Am typing this on a 2014 Retina running Ubuntu...

@torgo basically Usenet, circa 1986, only it was System V Unix. Even then, the Internet managed to route around damage, albeit slower.

I can, and do, frequently install Linux on a variety of things, I consider that one of my lesser skills compared to the things I actually enjoy talking about.

I am not going to get into a fight over which non-Xitter network has a better foundation or protocol. I am just going to go where there are interesting people not named MElon Husk. We'll see which one will be permanent.

On bsky, I'm @ericcloninger

@torgo had 3 of those in 1.5 years. Loved the idea, and I kept them in a case, but 2 of them peeled the screen after about 6 months and the last one went Tango Uniform a month after I left the mother ship. Not going to pay a premium for one out of my own pocket. A $500 Pixel works well enough.
@skovatch I have fond memories of the conversations between Bob and Red Barber on Friday mornings.
I can't believe I'm paying an extra $10 for a static IP address to my home network. But, it seems to be solving the problem.
@torgo I wish you better luck this time around. Samsung's commitment to OS seems to wax and wane with the quarterly numbers.
@torgo I run both on a KVM and the weird part for me is that, by default, mouse wheel scrolling works in opposite directions. I solved it by wiping the Mac and installing Ubuntu. ๐Ÿ˜›

A bit of a milestone with my holiday project.

Caution: there is no TL;DR

My Holiday Downtime Project

My employer shuts the entire company down over the holiday break, so I find myself with idle hands. Naturally, itโ€™s time to break something. Caution: There is no TL;DR on this one.
