Ordering a bottle of molasses and the shopping process is a bit more intense than I expected
Many may things have changed in this part of Minnesota since I last lived here in the 90's. One thing has not changed, though: gliders.
I did not find the birds I was looking for today, but I did find a pair of trumpeter swans, and a bunch of geese ogling the trumpeters.
And some scary bycatch! A gigantic cranefly larva.
Darters from today's collection trip: Common logperch (Percina caprodes), fantail darter (Etheostoma flabellare), banded darter (Etheostoma zonale).
This Indostomus/toothpick fish has been getting ever less toothpick-shaped over the winter and the pair are finally spawning this week. The eggs seem infertile, even though their water is already pretty soft.
