The creepy system that serves you targeted ads has been used by the government to track peoples' locations, new reporting confirms. https://eff.org/deeplinks/2026/03/targeted-advertising-gives-your-location-government-just-ask-cbp
The Government Uses Targeted Advertising to Track Your Location. Here's What We Need to Do.

The online advertising industry has built a massive surveillance machine, and the government can co-opt it to spy on us.

Example from the Explainer (https://open-ui.org/components/toolbar.explainer):

Hey cuties! , my newest #SolarPunk project is to reduce the unnecessary waste of extra yarn 🧶 by creating Rugs from Recycled Remnants. Those left over spools left in a corner, random basket or closet are the raw material to create abstract landscapes of winding looped stream motifs, fluffy beaches, squishy moss and ticklish grasses. In the past few months, I've created three different sized rugs for two humans and a cat, in a variation of colors, textures and styles, all from yarns gifted & thrifted.

If you so desire a tactile art object, such as a custom carpet to be felt between your toes or hung like a tapestry, please contact me. You may be required to to send your left over yarns as an offering🤲🏻, or I will trawl the internets for something of similar salvage to create a tufted horizon paradise, 🏝️ at the rate of hourly increments. 💶

Your custom carpet size can be created up to a maximum of 120cm / 47 inches by 155cm/ 61 inches or less.

Do you have extra yarn 🧶 laying around from your last knitting project? Do you want to commission me to create a custom carpet for you or your pet/ child/ mum/ dad/ sister/ brother/ grandparent/ best friend/ partner/ an elderly neighbor / your local grocer/ that wizard that lives in the single stand alone cabin on your street of apartments? ⚡ Power Contact me here or directly through my website at www.lacybarry.com

Send me your wool & name your price.

Taught Invisible XML today to my undergrads for the first time (last year had a guest speaker do it). This is lots of fun, to write a deliberate grammar instead of grabbing at patterns haphazardly with ad hoc regular expressions. Both are fun, but ixml kinda makes you feel like a serious wielder of Unicode lore. Or a Cheshire Cat.

Times New Resistance - a free font that looks like Times Roman, except it autocorrects certain phrases. Type "Trump" and it autocorrects to "Donald Trump is a felon." About three dozen other corrections in there as well. Perfect for installing on your MAGA uncle's laptop. https://www.abbyhaddican.com/times-new-resistance

Times New Resistance is a font that autocorrects the autocrats. Download, distribute, disrupt! Free, just like America used to be.

Hey #TEI & #DigitalHumanities friends—we need your help! 🆘
Our DHSI course "Processing Your TEI/XML with the XML Family of Languages" (https://bit.ly/dhsi-xpath) needs registrants to run this June (15-19). This is the ONLY DHSI course teaching XSLT, XQuery, & Schematron together via XPath (https://dhsi.org/course-offerings/).
People are excited about AI courses, but XML processing is MORE essential now, not less. You need these skills to validate AI outputs, build pipelines, & control your projects. 🧵1/3
