Nerd.

Kim Kitsuragi would die for me.

User profile is a black and white self portrait of a 50 year old white man. He wears sunglasses. His hair is cut short and is flying in unflattering directions. He holds a ceramic coffee cup that reads “bonjour Alameda”

Header picture is the Alameda Marina facing Coast Guard Island and looking at Mosely’s Cafe and electric boat rental office. A very handsome wood boat and a coaster guard cutter.

Ferry commute is best

No lie, the California track used to be the first thing we'd hear when my spouse plugged her phone in, so it's now unironically in my brain as a banger.

Every road trip in California, the family would belt out the song together as a 'we are stuck driving in the car together' ode.

Every time.

Best / worst part of trouble shooting my apple music library is now I have the cursed U2 album again?

Dear lazy webs, where are all my itunes purchases? Apple music seems to be empty.

Signed, a dude who bought maybe 3 albums once, back when he worked for apple.

All this is to say, kids deserve the time and space to make art and talk about it, and to go see it

The main thing is: art supplies - even mine, which are middle of the road - are expensive, and these kids are welcome to borrow mine. Paper and canvasses come and go, markers dry out. But you shouldn’t have to break the bank to get an art education; and almost no public California school has art class.

I’m not counting Oakland school of the arts.

And the marker and fineliner bin went to a scout who was temporarily robbed of the story boarding book. I don’t think he’ll miss it - he’s basically a 5th grader just starting out (the other scout who took the book makes his own comics already)
The scout that got the bin with pencil sharpener, colored pencils, and the autographed James Gurney / Thomas Kincaid sketching guide doesn’t even know what magic is in there, but I hope it inspires him.

Another kid is a sibling of a scout and just wants to paint watercolors.

That bin happened to have new supplies I bought today when I couldn’t find any if my water color supplies, so.
