Retired attorney. (Only argue for fun now.)
I have zero sympathy for #Trump. The #assassination attempt gave him a scratch on the ear. Not exactly a crucifixion. He’s been promoting violence for most of his political life, from inciting a violent mob to attack the Capitol while he watched with glee on TV, to telling his supporters he’d pay for their legal expenses if they attacked protestors, to asking whether protestors could be shot in the leg, to telling cops not to be gentle when putting an arrestee in the back of a patrol car.
America’s most famous psychopath found guilty on all counts. #TrumpGuilty
In the fictionalized world inhabited by the conservative #SCOTUS justices, rather than focus on Trump’s #immunity claim in the case before them, they fretted over issues that will likely never arise. No reasonable person would grant immunity to a president who attempted to remain in power by instigating an attack on the capitol. But the conservative justices would rather send the case back to the trial court for findings on whether this was an “official” act. Another unnecessary delay.
Purdy’s getting rattled. Three INTs.
The $148 million verdict against #RudyGiuliani reminded me of the movie The Verdict starring Paul Newman where the jury asked if they could award more than the plaintiff was asking for. Newman was the plaintiff’s attorney, and the look on his face was priceless.
We are sleepwalking into a Trump dictatorship. This opinion piece is frightening. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/11/30/trump-dictator-2024-election-robert-kagan/
A Trump dictatorship is increasingly inevitable. We should stop pretending.

There is a clear path to dictatorship in the United States, and it is getting shorter every day. So why is everyone behaving like normal?

#MikeJohnson, another Trump lap dog who tried to overturn Biden’s win, becomes speaker. Republicans just can’t stop spiraling the drain. Democrats will gain the majority in 2024.
NY Times: We f’ed up in our reporting on the Gaza hospital explosion. So did a lot of other ostensibly reputable news outlets, but not all have acknowledged their mistake which had serious repercussions. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/23/pageoneplus/editors-note-gaza-hospital-coverage.html
Editors’ Note: Gaza Hospital Coverage

The Times’s initial accounts of the blast attributed the claim of Israeli responsibility to Palestinian officials, and noted that the Israeli military said it was investigating the blast. However, the early versions of the coverage relied too heavily on claims by Hamas.

#EnriqueTarrio just found out that Fight Club was a movie and this is real life. A 22 year sentence for seditious conspiracy.
