I have created accounts on many social networks over the years, but I always lose interest when the chronological timeline is removed. I imagine I'll be quite frustrated with myself when I drive myself away from my own server with a string of decisions I don't like.

I play video games, usually only one or two at a time. Right now I'm participating in my second tier of #ffxiv savages and kind of looking for another game to add some variety.

How (racist/sexist/whatever) harassment on Mastodon works:

1. Harasser replies to their target's post, with the reply set to "followers only", saying the most vile stuff you can imagine.

2. All the harasser's followers join in on the harassment, posting more vile stuff.

3. Nobody but the target and the harassment crew can see the vile stuff that was said.

4. Target is traumatized. Nobody else can see why.

5. Everybody says "I don't see it so it's not happening."

After a little bit of experimentation I have decided that KDE "feels" better, but the easiest advantage to point out is that the system tray is installed by default (on Debian at least) instead of being hidden away in a plugin.

After decades of using GNOME just because it was the default and good enough, I think I'm switching to team KDE.

#TIL that there is a command "units" for units conversion exists. In the #BSD world it was appeared in the #NetBSD then ported to the #FreeBSD 2.2.0, according to the "History" section in the manpage.

At least, for now I known that 19 liters equals to 30.89 vodka bottles, or 154.47 charkas (чарок, от «чарка»), or 308.94 shkalikoff (шкаликов, от «шкалик»), or 1.55 vёder (вёдер, от «ведро»).

Conversion rules lives in the simple text file in the /usr/share/misc/definitions.units and the own rules could be written in some text file in the same manner.

I think I finally earned my Number One Dad mug now that I told my son about the existence of tab-completion in bash.

Or maybe the mug should be taken away because he's been using linux full time for several years and I waited until last night to share this knowledge.

I started playing Outer Wilds again recently and it has been nice to revisit. It hasn't been long enough since I played it last time that I forgot any major points, but it has been long enough that I feel like I'm rediscovering many of the details.
