@Remigius i feel like it's different to collecting in people's heads (tho not really in practice) bc people convince themselves they're doing it for some utility

the "reddit" part isn't a put-down either it's just that 90% of reddit hobby subs (other than for gaming) are this kind of hobby

this isn't a put down if you wanna spend your time and money that way it's fine. i just think it's an interesting phenomenon. also people will sometimes try to justify this kind of thing in their own heads by lying to themselves about how much utility they get out of the thing they own. like if you just like owning the thing that's fine

and if you care about your body count or brag about the people or kinds of people you've slept with like they're accomplishments fuck you

this is pretty much entirely for practical reasons 👀
