Really looking forward to blocking other #Mastodon instances/sharing domain block lists being easier after the commit for this issue hits a release: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/15095
Domain block list export / import · Issue #15095 · mastodon/mastodon

Pitch Domain Block Outputs the target domain in a specific format (CSV, JSON, etc.). Motivation I think you need the function to export/import domain blocks list to share servers. This maybe protec...

designing new paraflex sub enclosures for a club I've been doing sound engineering at!

still need to put the final bracing in place and then on to small details like handles/wiring block

for ex:
some instances have big moderation teams, small instances not so much.

some are fash instances and should clearly be blocked, others will block your server (and you) if you didn't (manually) block their specific list of fash instances.

tools such as RBLs would be a practical improvement (especially for small instances) but then surely an org needs to be created to administer such a thing?

how do local laws apply? switter and it's disbandment is humbling to me, to say the least.

I feel like we (server admins, developers, etc) are, frankly unequipped to handle it currently especially if we continue to gain users at this rate - it deserves some serious organizing and social infrastructure that feels quite beyond the capability of a handful of programmers and devops/admin folks

Also imo there is a lot to figure out regarding what good moderation looks like and who's responsible for what

there are some (good) community norms already especially regarding anti-bigotry and anti-fascism but the independently operated nature of a federated network really complicates the matter, especially when it comes to making decisions which can determine the accessibility of large chunks fediverse content for their users (fediverse domain blocks)

for those who are new to mastodon, try to be patient as things evolve and problems get solved. it's really not very many people and with the recent spike in new accounts many of the devs have also had their hands full keeping the servers from falling over

also please consider tipping your instance! especially if you are using the site for commerical purposes - the cloud/VPS/cdn and other services needed to run an instance are not cheap ^^; (and you really don't want it run out of a basement)

relived to see so many mutuals here already

Your Mastodon feed won't improve through passive engagement. There is no algorithm to suggest and share what you liked.

You must actively follow different people to see what they boost, and you must boost for other people to see. Some people are from different servers. You will see more of what they see organically. You can also hashtag to increase visibility.

There is no quote retweet either. You have to actively engage and comment in the thread.
