A human being in action cannot represent perfection. The moment you take action, you are imperfect: you have decided to act that way instead of that other way. That's why people who think they are perfect are so ridiculous.~Joseph Campbell

'Digital Timescapes: Technology, Temporality & Society' published by Polity Books just arrived in post. Covers how the digital reconfigures time w/ respect to history/memory, politics/policy, governance, mobility/logistics, planning/dev, & work/labour. In my mind, 4th book in a set of Mapping Cyberspace, Code/Space, The Data Revolution, Digital Timescapes that plots spatial & temporal implications of digital infrastructure, software & data.

surprised there is an 'Ibrik' method in these best ways to make your #coffee --I make it the Bosnian way of heating up the coffee grounds slightly and pouring boiling water (that I also let drop down in temperature for ~45 seconds) over the ibrik, then placing it back on low/off heat until it bubbles up again, stir and let sit a few minutes again before serving. ☕️ https://youtu.be/XExON2hESk0

Seeing crap like this may be infuriating, but this uncaring person is merely expressing out loud what most humanity has decided. All the people cramming into airports, conferences, and concerts without masks are, in fact, “not giving up their freedom because other people are vulnerable.” It's shocking to see it expressed so candidly as #COVID19 risks continue, but it's no more shocking than seeing it acted out by millions of people who otherwise consider themselves to be compassionate, is it?
I've tried my best to advocate for events and community-building that aim to be the most inclusive by adjusting to accommodate and include those who are most vulnerable, most marginalized--therefore being inclusive of ALL and it really is just bulldozed by narcissistic leaders not actually interested in community-building.
also forever fascinated that people are just at events unmasked. do they not know about long-covid? do they not understand how vaccines work? how people get infected? And in talking about inclusivity: what about the sheer ableism & exclusion permeating academia through inaccessible events?
100% here for this question on radicalizing the science and technology programs for inclusivity at this CSPO event and interjecting creativity in this realm.

I don’t know how to explain it, but time works differently in airports. 5 minutes and 5 hours are somehow the same. Your flight is delayed but arrives early. The carpets are from 1980. The water machines are from 2045. It is always happy hour. You have always been in the airport.
