Oh yeah also amidst all this, there is legitimately what you could describe as "a load bearing Cisco Catalyst 5002 carrier grade switch". It hasn't been powered on in years but serves as the ballast for the rack, and is part of the structural integrity of the whole thing.
I've been pulling cables for three hours and it feels like decades. I shut down everything but the system still feels alive, the memory of its blinking lights seared in my mind, and radiates waves of malice.
sad to throw my soekris net4801 in the bin today; still works fine, but compact flash is spent and I don't have another nor do I have a USB adapter for one.
also, what to do with such an old slow device? alas.
