Today I'm delighted to join MEPs @violavoncramon & @SLagodinsky for the launch of 'Beyond The Face', a major new technical, legal & practical study from Share Foundation about biometric mass surveillance.

Join us at 13:00 CET in the European Parliament (SPAAK 6G306) to hear all about how the growing recourse of governments to biometric systems is leading the repression of our rights to privacy, free expression, equality, to seek asylum & more.

4/x Earlier today, NGOs specialised in democracy, lobby control & human rights wrote to European Commission President von der Leyen to ask why they are not investigating these allegations of conflicts of interest, illegal microtargeting and attacks on NGOs by the Commission's Home Affairs unit.

The signatories including Defend Democracy point to how such actions contribute to a shrinking of civic space and threaten the legitimacy of the EU at a crucial time...

Just learned from @[email protected] via @[email protected] that UK's #OnlineSafetyBill (with many similarities to EU's proposed #CSAReg) now proposes to criminalise & censor online sharing of videos of boats carrying migrants if shown in a "positive light". Horrifying on so many levels...
