More & more convinced that making key public goods - transport, waste, health, education, social media, energy etc - non-profit commons may be the most important climate strategy of all.

With privatisation shareholder profit determines all provider decisions & policies - not what is best for planet & people. If society agrees that these should be realms for the common good, not for profit, then sustainable policies can be adopted swiftly, at every level

The 'single digital presence' for public libraries in the UK finally has a name! https://libraryon.org/

And a nice clear mission statement to go with it: 'Our goal is to increase the number of people who use libraries, both in person and online' - who wouldn't love that?

LibraryOn connects people to their libraries

Fediverse Strava, is that a thing? In the end tracking exercise is basically microblogging with a few added bells and whistles, isn’t it? #FediverseAlternatives
‘Move fast and break things’

‘move fast but only if it’s easy to revert, and monitor carefully’
for any system in production, placing emphasis on moving fast, not breaking things, but I’ll admit it doesn’t exactly roll of the tongue.

Someone else said this first but it really does feel like the first day at a conference where you bump into one familiar face after another. "OMG you're here too! Hiiii! So good to see you again!"
Interesting that threads may be a thing of the past here, as they are an artefact of twitter’s message length limit. Instead of the reading responses and have people ‘unroll’ them after, or patiently loading an ill-defined number of messages, you can just write your essay and be done.
I am all for this change, both as a reader and as a writer.
Let’s try this again. Where you at #fediverse? Boosts welcome so we can get the best sample size.

Naming is hard. I onced named a toy project after a singing dragon from children's TV. 15 years later, I see people talking about it seriously on the internet as if it's a proper thing...
