Having done volunteer coordination roles in the past, I feel super grateful to the moderators of the many instances of these federated social networking servers - especially including @aussocialadmin
In my experience, it is always way more work than you hoped it would be, largely thankless, and you receive a truly surprising amount of critique/whining.
I hope people who are joining will consider contributing to the running costs via the Patreon, and generally respect the rules that the admin has chosen to put in place.
If the rules are not your thing, there is bound to be another instance that suits you better and porting your account appears to be super easy.
Also: how good is the lack of advertising?
I'd have to ask - at what point does Crown just get shut down?
