That's to say, it's not an issue that can be fixed because it's in the core design and no amount of feature addon or optimization is going to change that.
@koumeposter yes, but boosts and faves also need to cost so that we know people aren't just handing them out willy-nilly
So the reason mastodon kind of sucks as a Twitter replacement is that it's core design is bad at being a social media.
The federated system doesn't handle constant interaction very well and is terrible for finding friends.
But do you know what mastodon is really good at? Being a world-wide bulletin board. Which, incidentally, is what it, and twitter we're originally designed to be.
