How students think I will respond when they have to cancel a meeting with me:

How I actually respond:

Been struggling for a decade with the browser tab mess in chrome. Tried pinned tabs for a while but they took over until my whole bar was pinned.

Been using tab groups for a while now and it works like a charm.

6/6 Diversity and inclusion:
If you are from a background traditionally underrepresented in science, please do apply if you meet the qualifications! Science is a team sport, and we can't do well in science if we make it so much harder for some folks than others.

Our (ever growing) team is looking forward to your applications :)

5/6 The university:
I started in Leiden 2018. It's the oldest 🇳🇱 uni (1575), & through my activities in the Young Academy Leiden & the Open Science Community Leiden, I have met tons of motivated, smart, & kind early career scholars. Leiden is beautiful, although I commute from Haarlem (20min).
Ok mastadon pros ... assume I find an external link to a post here, like in the screenshot above. It says I'm not logged in. Do I really have to switch to my other mastadon tab (I am logged in), manually search for that post (e.g. via author), to engage with it? I don't fully understand yet how servers work. Thanks!
Not sure if I've yet connected to the local #font #nerd community, but I just discovered 'Karla' and boy it's pretty!

I've used a tool to find my twitter friends here twice now, and spent several hours in the last 2 weeks browsing my followers 1 by 1 and following back people I (think I) know.

But new folks are coming in every day, so if we know each other (even peripherally) & I don't follow you yet, please don't be shy & poke me (e.g. in this thread). Like Twitter, Mastadon will require a certain amount of interconnections to make it enjoyable.

Thanks!

Progress update: it’s been 5 years and we’re still working hard to make this future a reality. I’ve definitely gained some weight to look more like my future self.

“The job is fine honestly. Yes, we do get up early, but the bread is great. And you get used to the death metal in a few months.
The German is odd and mumbles a lot, but he’s also stingy, so he talks a lot less at us about interactions of yeast and flower and emergence since we put up a ‘complexity’ jar.”
