The reason I joined the Android team in 2010, and that since 2008 I’ve carried Android not iOS devices, was that I could just download software. And other people could download mine.

This new process is a massive breaking of faith with the community.

To be fair, every year or two Apple ratchets up the difficulty of downloading Mac apps.

The doors on every open platform are swinging closed, fast or slow. Capitalism is broken. Another reason we need to protect the Web.

God, this is amazing. I wish a single US city had this vision or courage.

Welcome to Paris, the City Tha...

Trump's success can really be laid at the feet of a single failure in US Government: the existence of the Senate.

Every system we have is designed to be hands-off when it comes to Presidential authority. Why? Because imposing limits on the President is supposed to be the Senate's job. The House impeaches, the Senate convicts.

And the Senate is absurdly biased. A few thousand voters in Wyoming are valued over a few million voters in New York.

It was inevitable that the Senate would eventually be captured by minority rule, and that Senators would refuse to hold their guy accountable.

Which leaves the rest of government without a lot of options.

Out riding my bike tonight and I saw a driver almost rear end a cyclist riding in the non-protected bike lane. I guess they weren't paying attention because they slammed on their brakes and squealed the tires a bit.

Then they laid on their horn! And stopped there, continuing to lay on their horn for probably another ten seconds! The guy on the bike had pulled into a mcdonalds parking lot and was looking confused about why he was being honked at.

Increased opposition to AIPAC is a good thing.

AND.

There are many, many people who have figured out that if they swap in the word AIPAC or Zionist* where they used to say Soros or Globalist, they can get a lot of progressives to repeat antisemitic conspiracy nonsense.

Don't fall for it.

*Or "Satanic," for some reason.

Don’t buy a cow, or a car, and expect your city to give you someplace to park it. #UrbanTruth

Another iOS exploit has been found in the wild, being used in watering hole attacks by Russian hackers: https://www.wired.com/story/hundreds-of-millions-of-iphones-can-be-hacked-with-a-new-tool-found-in-the-wild/
Hundreds of Millions of iPhones Can Be Hacked With a New Tool Found in the Wild

A powerful iPhone-hacking technique known as DarkSword has been discovered in use by Russian hackers. It can take over devices running iOS 18 that simply visit infected websites.

Trump doesn't understand that the behavior that got him into office only worked because other people were maintaining the guardrails.

A toddler can get away with a lot of screaming, smashing and biting, but only as long as the adults in the room are shielding them from the consequences of their own actions.

Once again, we see the limits of Trump's view of power.

If you want to influence someone's decisions, they need to believe that you'll deliver an outcome they care about. Whether the outcome is a reward or a threat, that *belief* is power.

Now no one believes the US will abide by our commitments, and we're losing our ability to convince countries not to build nukes.

Going nuclear? Why a growing number of Washington’s allies are eyeing an alternative to US umbrella

The ‘nuclear club’ currently consists of 9 nations? Could more nations be joining before long?
