Tis the season to sew Silene stellata seeds! These little seeds need to be cold stratified to sprout next spring. #Silene
My first and most enduring love, however, is birds. I did my master's thesis and dissertation work on breeding ecology and behavior (extra-pair paternity) of Scissor-tailed Flycatchers at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. #Tyrannus #STFL #ecology #behavior
I've also worked with the red harvester ant, Pogonomyrmex barbatus, on questions related to foraging, resource use, distribution across the landscape, and thermal tolerance. Much of this work was done with undergraduate students at Cameron University in OK.
Trying Mastadon out, I guess! In case you don't know me, I am an Oklahoman transplant into South Dakota. I study bird and insect reproduction, behavior, and ecology. I am currently dabbling in plant biology as part of my post-doc at South Dakota State University. I love teaching, research, and connecting with people! #STFL #biology #bird #insect #Silene #Hadena #Pogonomyrmex #Tyrannus
