I created a new jail, non-vnet. It can resolve DNS just fine.
$ nc -zv 10.55.0.1 53
Connection to 10.55.0.1 53 port [tcp/domain] succeeded!
The jail can ping the DNS HOST.

I'm playing with a Dell R7425 - I want to test it against my Dell R730. My usual test: How long does it take to build the ports I use via poudriere.

My first problem: I can't get DNS to work inside the new vnet jail (pkg02) I just created.

I have a working vnet jail to compare against (pkg01 on the Dell R730).

Based on tcpdump results, the requests from the pkg02 jail never leave the jail host. I don't know why yet.

BRB, comparing stuff again.

2 weeks until BSDCan 2026!

Get some poutine. Get some shawarma. Put it down with some Canadian beer.

While at it, attend some talks!

For instance, "Geographically fault-tolerant SSH on OpenBSD" by Rob Keizer where you'll learn to keep ssh alive when things go south.

Geographically fault-tolerant SSH on OpenBSD

For 19 years, GPS satellites have secretly broadcast a “numbers station” in their public signals. We decoded 12M messages: a 2011 flash where 31 of 32 satellites flipped in hours, “ghost” substrings repeating years apart, and a “TEXT” prefix spreading now. https://lsc-pagepro.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/?i=865273&p=62&view=issueViewer

😳❤️🤔❤️😎

They do not appear to have sent an “open box” cameras at a discount.

IT APPEARS TO BE FACTORY SEALED at a discounted price.

FOR THE WIN.

Thank you everyone who has helped make this possible with your generosity!

I suspect that’s reading the package repos. it’s also what FreshPorts does:

Fixed.

I changed the iDRAC 9 password on this new-to-me Dell R7425 - now I can't get logged in.

Next time I'm in the basement, I'll get that fixed up.
