Public call out for objects, images and stories for the exhibition “Endometriosis: Into The Unknown”

The Vagina Museum is asking the public to contribute to objects, images and stories for our opening exhibition “Endometriosis: Into The Unknown”. This project is being produced in collaboration with The Women’s Health Group at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics based at The University of Oxford. The exhibition will explore what endometriosis is, what we still don’t know, the research that is being done and how it affects everyday people. We are looking for certain types of objects, images and stories to fit the themes below, but are also open to any objects or stories you feel are relevant. To submit something for inclusion, fill out the google form and we will get back to you should it be chosen for inclusion. If the object needs posting, we will pay for tracked and signed postage. The exhibition will run until February 2024, and we will return the objects once the exhibition has concluded. We are particularly looking for the following objects, but we are open to considering anything related to endometriosis. Scans or imagery as part of a medical investigation into endometriosis (e.g. an ultrasound). Identifiable information such as name or date of birth will be redacted Pain relief methods for endometriosis e.g. hot water bottle, TENS machine, packet from pain relief medication (please do not send us actual medicine, only the packaging) Stories (max 150 words) about your lived experience of endometriosis. This may be how you first heard about it, your symptoms, getting a diagnosis, taking time off work, etc Photos of you doing something you thought you’d never be able to do after getting an endometriosis diagnosis. This might be a photo with your baby after struggling with infertility, running a marathon, etc Some very specific objects: a transvaginal ultrasound probe, a pack of Always pads from Kenya, laparoscopy tools, THINX knickers, a calendar with plans crossed out, Offer Me A Seat badge, I have endometriosis card The form is divided into the following sections: Your details Equality monitoring Your proposed contribution - object/image Your proposed contribution - story Further information and FAQs can be found here The deadline for responses is July 30th at 23:59 to ensure we have time to organise postage.

are there any anaesthetists (not just doctors in general) in science fiction media?

I had the privilege of working with an excellent team, with some fairly unwell people

And the wider team beyond our specialist function was, by and large, fairly supportive
