3.) A heavier whole foods breakfast. My breakfasts before were usually pretty light - oatmeal or cereal.
I now make a salad that usually consists of one can of chickpeas (21 grams of protein), mixed greens, healthy fats like extra virgin olive oil or avocado, and some spices and seasonings for flavor.

Today I improvised a Thai peanut dressing that consisted of PBfit (a low calorie peanut butter powder), soy sauce, seasonings, and lime juice. It added an extra 8 g of protein.

2.) Morning hydration with fresh vegetable juice. Water is fine, but I spice it up by making a fresh juice. I currently aim for 650 ml but I'll probably increase that. I blend vegetables like cucumbers, celery, Ginger, carrots and maybe a fruit for flavor like an apple.
This coming week I'm going to try juicing beets as well.

1.) An alarm clock app you have to scan a barcode to shut off. Particularly one that is very hard or impossible to bypass. I struggled so many years to wake up early consistently because my morning brain is lazy and clever. But this gets me out of bed by the time I scan that code, I no longer have the urge to go back to bed.

I did eat store-bought tempeh at first, but it was expensive (about 10 times as much as homemade β€” see https://leisureguy.ca/2024/04/01/buying-tempeh/) and it also doesn't have the variety (or the excellent taste) of homemade. That is, if you look for black lentil + purple barley tempeh in the store, you will not find it, despite its nutritional excellence.

If you try it, commit to doing 4 batches. By then, you'll have enough experience to find it easy.

Buying tempeh costs 10 times more than making it

It depends, of course, on what legumes and grains you use, but comparing plain old store-bought soybean tempeh to my latest batch (desi chickpeas and Kamut wheat), the store tempeh is close to 9 ti…
