@antifaburrito if you put a queen on a shelf she must go off

@lowqualityfacts Haha, jokes on you, libs, I'm so poor that I make the government spend money just to determine that I'm too poor to be worth the money to determine if I'm too poor for...

Hold on, I'm confused.

@antifaburrito Of course it is, how will they get you to spend that paycheck on useless junk if you're not? Silly goose.

(big mood, though. Always feel free to hmu if you need to vent.)

@cedar Just another example of the state using force and violence to prevent independent communities from cropping up.

Nobody can deny that when tent cities begin to crop up, the living conditions are horrid- but left on their own, I find that history shows, the community bands together, organizes their labor, and begins to construct their own basic services. Sanitation and water infrastructure, electricity, education...

But, of course, they're never allowed to get to that point, the police will swoop in and destroy all they've built.

@briankrebs It just now occurs to me that the nature of software, being nebulous and difficult to verify for the average person, will present an increasing opportunity for abuse by corporations and states.

Think of what can be done with the push of a button as more infrastructure is controlled by software- traffic lights and web traffic prioritized for those with a higher social credit score- Where your car could face more red lights, making you late for work- Where you can't apply for jobs because your internet traffic has been deprioritized- Where every piece of technology, that which is increasingly vital in the information age, can be made to malfunction. Streetlamps, smartphones, traffic lights, elevators... Vehicles.

A car is a deadly weapon. What happens when the corporate entity that made the software wants you dead?

@IndyRichard @scorpiontongue Communication requires more than just a dialogue. On both sides, it requires understanding, comprehension, and evaluation before someone can begin to integrate your words into their understanding of the world.

Those who refuse or fail to participate in any step along the way are simply put, dismissing you. We should always make an effort to be active listeners, earnestly evaluate what we've been presented with, and proportion our beliefs to the evidence. This is what will set us apart and allow us to build strong communities.

@Fullnihilism We stan soup in this house. It's easy, filling, can feed many with little additional effort, damn cheap, and lowers your reliance on corporate products.

My man Pollan says it all.

I have this theory that a lot of people are secretly nerds, they just have been shamed for being enthusiastic about the thing they love. Only if it's the current consumer thing (sports, cars) it's fine. But a lot of people just think stuff is neat and have learned that it's safer to be incurious about the world. It doesn't take much digging to find that spark in folks though, and it makes me sad that they've never learned how joyous it can be to revel in the fascinating details of the universe.
