Matt BlazeAnyway, while I don't understand why this pisses some people off so much, or why they take my critique of the Mastodon PM semantics so personally, it's now very clear that it does piss some people off quite a bit.
But I'm not going to let that stop me. I'm an expert on security and privacy. And my job is, in large part, to act as a public intellectual. Warning people of dangerous designs that could cause them harm is what I do. If doing so makes me an asshole, so be it.

Damon OutlawI love the Fedi but we have to be honest. People here often want everyone to come to Mastodon & the Fedi to the point of making posts calling out users and calling them nazi apologists etc. This place is anti-capitalist, want people to CW their lived experiences and a ton of views incompatible. Some people use social media for their businesses, communities and other important reasons. Let’s be honest about the incompatibility of this culture to the masses. Twitter was important for social movements like #MeToo #BLM and others. People don’t want posts to go viral here. I don’t want to live in a world where those stories didn’t get the attention they deserved. Think outside of yourself before passing that judgment, think of marginalised communities. #Fediverse #Mastodon #Twitter #X # #Meta
