Jack of all trades IT related. Emphasis on cloud, cyber and AWS in particular (although I dabble out of professional necessity in the other two main cloudy flavours).

Started off my computing journey programming the TI 99/4A (we weren't rich enough yet to afford a C64) from magazines. Amiga lover till the very end.

Not exactly sure what #SBSTV is doing with their ad breaks on live streams (probably trying to extract more $ from advertisers) by not showing the actual ads, but they've fucked it up to the point where the first several seconds of the show after each ad breaks gets cut off
Watching a certain just-launched poll on #birdsite with interest
Views like this for the next week, so of course my first priority was getting the Chromecast up on the resort's captive portal WiFi with my GL-MT300N-V2 Mango #geekvacation
#singapore achievement unlocked - Haig Street Putu Piring obtained!
At least they use alt tags #singaporeairlines
I had to giggle at my Scrubber #birdsite report 🤣
HugOps to the @circleslifeAU@twitter team today - looks like an overnight update went bad, with all the usual angry customer repercussions. Also a tad unfortunate that it happened just a few hours after they suspended their #birdsite presence. It didn't look great!

My *old* Samsung washer sprung a leak over the weekend so I've sprung for a Bosch. #homeassistant shows a remarkable difference already:

The Sammy was consistently pulling about 0.1A in standby, the Bosch pulls zero. Napkin calc: 0.1*240V = 24W/h, meaning 1kWh wasted every 41-ish hrs. At currently 24c per kWh that means it was costing me 24*365/41*.24 = $51.28 a year in standby.

Given the deal I got on the Bosch compared to a new Sammy, it should pay for itself in standby energy savings alone in 4 years.

The most prominent commercial building from my backyard. I wonder how long till the workers are out rebranding the building #medibank
Sorry @aussocialadmin that was a bit useless. Here's one with more info, including some response headers
