After 4 months of wandering through Central America (and loving it! ❤️), it's time to head back. Of course, to get north (US), I have to fly south (Colombia). Funny how that works! 🛩✈️😁

I can recommend the #Bogota airport though. It has great facilities, including "Resting rooms" -- tiny private spaces with a bed, pillow & blanket, that you can rent by the hour. I've spent enough time sleeping in airports that this seems like a brilliant idea! 🛏😌 #zzz

Low tide in Panama City left the fishing boats sitting on the mud. 🛥 Makes it harder to offload your catch! 🐟 (Or to catch it in the first place!) 😆

It's actually pretty complicated. On the Pacific side, there's a huge tidal range up to 20 feet ⬆️ while on the Caribbean side, the avg range is just 10 inches. ⬇️ And while the Pacific side has 2 high + 2 low tides per day, the Caribbean side sometimes does the same, but other times has just 1 of each. 🤔

Casco Viejo is the oldest part of Panama City, founded in 1673. It's a picturesque area 🤩 full of color & character, and fun to stroll around.🚶🏼‍♀️ There's a ton of renovation work going on and it's wonderful to see these historic buildings being preserved. 🏠👍 But if you've got an urge to take on a major project, you can still find some with trees growing through the roof & windows. 😉

The boat behind us in the canal is one that was built specifically to the measurements of the locks. They didn't leave much room to spare! 🚢😮 The lines are handled with those little machines that run on tracks both sides of the lock, and they adjust their tension as the water level changes. 💧↕️ #tightsqueeze
