@kristinHenry @artcollisions @darth_mall Oh, okay. Hmmm, perhaps I will have to leave then. As an artist, teacher, collector, and arts supporter, I cannot simply not discuss NFTs or artists using Machine Learning tools. I understand the decision to keep this space filtered, but it is a more complex issue for me. I appreciate your patience and taking the time to explain it.
@kristinHenry @artcollisions @darth_mall OK, to be clear, if I boost someone and they are on another instance, it is fine and does not go to the local timeline (it just might offend some followers). If I boost a post of someone posting to this instance and they are violating the rules then I am compounding the issue. That makes sense.
(FWIW I read the official Mastodon FAQ about boosting and they are crazy vague about how this works.)
@artcollisions @kristinHenry @darth_mall ok this helps a lot! I deeply respect the ppl making these places/instances happen, ready to re-tune my habits, just finding the flows here.
@Eleanor awesome advice, thank you! So far I have gathered a couple hundred friends from the bird place and it is a solid and diverse start...
@kristinHenry oh thanks for the reminder! I should jump into that this year, hone my code skills. WHo is picking the prompts or where will they be shared?
Last year I did 50 days of "generative" 3d portraits which was great at getting a handle on GeometryNodes.
@artcollisions huh, so that is an answer no one has given - if I boost, it DOES NOT go on the local timeline?
This is my main concern - I do not want to sully my local instance but want to support and reshare stuff from friends with my followers who might not be local.
I want to be able to talk about politics, music, videos games, teaching, art, technology, art markets, and weird cultural events. Feels like I need to be a member of several instances on Mastadon to do so? Like sort all my interests. I see the value of that for ppl who want focused spaces, perhaps unlike me. It is interesting to think about social networking not being a flood of everything and what that means for my own behavior.
I played Elden ring for just under 200 hours and enjoyed it even as it was frustrating and tedious at times. But towards the end and continuing I have been watching YT videos about the lore. A few ppl who describe themselves as archeologists and do long form explorations of game elements and unexplained parts of the story world. I am enjoying these stories almost as much as playing the game itself and I suppose it is a testament to the game designers and writers for this richness.
