Scala software dev, ex java posse and scalawag, talks a lot, sometimes at conferences
Much like ELO, hearing a Bob Mould, Sugar or Husker Du song just always makes my day that little bit better
though to fess up, this is audacity, the linux winamp, still compatible with the skins though
It still really whips the llama's ass
It sounds pretty good hooked up to a pair of Koss Porta Pro headphones too, apparently these older ones had a better DAC (wolfson) that is highly sought after now. Mostly I just love the novelty of bringing it back from the dead.
While clearing out recently I found my old iPod, remembered how much I enjoyed using it, and set about repairing it. Youtube FTW. Now has new battery and an SD card replacing the HD. Re-initialized on a mac, turned off journaling in HFS+ and now I can sync it from Linux/Rhythmbox just fine (including playlists). Even better, with a new battery and sd-card it lasts a couple of days solid use between charges.

Apple, what happened to the days when you encouraged "think different" and advocated for open standards (yes, remember Steve Jobs killed flash with that line, and never followed through). Now we have iMessage monopoly and cyber-bullying 😠

I'm glad I'm no longer on that train... "Think the same, and ridicule anyone who thinks different"

The BBC's experiment with Mastodon is pathbreaking in English-language news -- a major organization setting up its own instance. They've really thought this through. Key language:

"We're using social.bbc as the domain, so you can be sure these accounts are genuinely from the BBC. And by linking to and from the BBC’s website, we have verified our identity on Mastodon."

What an outstanding game, what an outstanding series... As for Stuart Broad, perhaps the best possible way to retire...
Still, nothing wrong with 592 runs in one innings 🙂
awwww - Bairstow came SO close!
