Chicago and #AGU2022 here we come? Just a bit later than I had hoped.
@kevinmgill The irregular shape of Phobos is so clear in its silhouette!
@kevinmgill Oof. Is this wear and tear expected (and within normal range) for this equipment given Curiosity's mission length so far? Is there any way to repair/supplement them as they continue to wear?

@dominicjohnson I can appreciate this sentiment. I feel we also need to acknowledge the progress this and every year. As @MichaelEMann noted, "we must be able to wrap our minds around two seemingly opposing realities: We are making substantial progress, and yet it’s wholly insufficient to the scale of the challenge"

Michael E. Mann: Don't despair. It's never about a single COP.

Yes, this year's summit, like every summit, fell short of what is needed. But the overall trajectory is progress. This is not the time to give up on the world's only functional framework to tackle climate change.

@drkimwood The way you blend real-world data visualizations and learning is aspirational! Thanks for what you do.
Hi! I'm Kim Wood, a faculty member at Mississippi State University studying hurricane behavior that ranges from individual tropical cyclones (TCs) to long-term patterns. I spend a lot of time coding in Python and strive to share examples when possible to limit how often we have to reinvent the wheel. I also craft data visualizations such as storm-following satellite imagery as in this example from Hurricane Dorian (2019):

What unconscious #habits do you have while you #work? I tend to narrate to myself while I'm solving problems or #writing.

It comes out as a whispered mutter. The first time I really noticed it was in #college, when my favorite #calculus professor told me to stop muttering during an exam! Needless to say, that was a jarring way to realize it 😜

@Zehavoc is there a ELI5? This idea has been framed pretty technically, and without knowing the jargon I'm struggling to understand.
