Listen, with Twitter, the entire platform was the proverbial walled garden. Only Twitter decided what grew inside, and what could creep out. Programmers could only do what Twitter allowed. Which was very little.
The #Fediverse is a wide open playing field where servers can agree to experiment with code, and develop collaborative protocols for actions, content and notifications. The Fediverse can finally have apps within apps, and apps embedded in messages.
