My parents met in 1965 and started “going steady” about 3 months later. They have been married something like 56 years. “She is a part of me,” my dad said as he drove me to the airport yesterday.
My dad said the sweetest things about his relationship with my mom that also highlights the tension and paradoxes about being with someone for a long time after she returned from being away for 6 weeks. “I like taking care of her,” he said, “but she also gets naggy about things, so it was nice not to be nagged so much while she was gone. But then I also miss her. I didn’t mind so much doing the laundry and cooking, but it is nice to share the chores of life. It is a partnership like that.”
@LilPecan If I invest the time now I will be ready with having edited and printed the Storyworth stories I have collected from him a few years back that I have never actually finished and readied into book form by the time he is 85.

@LilPecan Agreed. He bought one years and years ago at a duty free and has since consumed it in much joy with friends which is why I know he would have liked another but the price has commensurately increased over the years as well.
