Sure, we’ve already got Buttons talking to seagulls, the ability to row out to sea and find your ship, selectively magical healing. I’m sure there are more examples. I just want something big enough to drive the narrative, even if it’s a one-off.
I think outside of the deep desires of my heart for Izzy this season, what I want the most from S2 is some truly magical/supernatural elements. Real mermaids, cursed objects and people, that sort of thing. (And it’s kind of hilarious to me that the only reason I want this in canon is so that it would hopefully generate more supernatural fic in this fandom.)
It might also have the added bonus of deterring fans from trying to make the show a real world analogue.
Holy shit, this is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. In episode 1, no less. Izzy is fucking crying, my friends. I almost died when I saw the tears in his eyes on the video link. This scene looks cheesy as hell, but I am so very here for any and all Ed/Izzy (or Ed & Izzy) story progression. Did Frenchie say Izzy’s down two toes or did I hear that wrong? And Fang hugging Izzy!
Also, Madeleine Sami! Seeming like just one of the crew. Love it!

Everyone's already picked the trailer apart so much that this was the only thing that really jumped out at me on a frame by frame review tonight.
I recently rewatched S1 of Black Sails and even though this is probably my 6th rewatch I still get such a thrill from the mystery surrounding Miranda and her relationship with Flint. I remember how perplexed I was on my first watch, so many questions and mistaken assumptions. They did such a great job weaving this complicated relationship and drawing me into it even when it made no sense. And it’s even richer on rewatch when you know why they’re like that.
Fic rec: Oopshidaisy posted “everything i love is on the table” today and I stayed up way too late to finish it. If you share my love of the “Ed loves Izzy” genre, you can’t miss this one. It’s the second fic in a series, but the first fic is also great.
These shots of Ed with the cake are so good! How sad he looks, juxtaposed with all the happy wedding decorations, and how contemplative he looks when he focuses on the male cake topper.
I also saw someone elsewhere point out that his new collection of guns on his chest resemble the Blackbeard image he said was outlandish and ridiculous in season one, which is such a great detail.
Oh god, are we going to get a scene where Stede realizes Izzy’s in love with Ed? Maybe even Stede trying to ask him about it or acknowledge it, and Izzy’s so resigned to the mess he’s in that he’s just like, “yeah, obviously.” I’d also fully embrace a protesting-too-much denial from Izzy.
The idea that Stede might come to actually appreciate Izzy is just sending me into outer space. This is so good.
I’m at work so have only been able to watch once on my tiny phone screen. I am SO glad there’s going to be an Ed vs Stede aspect to this season. I definitely prefer mad Ed to sad Ed, though of course there is sad underneath the mad. Seeing Frenchie and Jim seemingly enmeshed in Ed’s schemes is also super exciting. Needs more Izzy, but overall this looks great. Wait, was there even a date? Please tell me we got a date!
