if you ever thought you were anxious about your work, try sending a system addon background update to all firefox users. 😐

looking at real-time'ish telemetry data with the percentage of clients with the update installed never gets old.

lol, automated case closure.

Microsoft Azure isn't just a home for script kiddies running their DoS tools and vulnerability scanners, you also can't even report it because their reporting tool is broken.

F'ing idiots.

I'm sure I'll be fine.

my current overengineering project involved writing a hacky Python script to generate, layout, and print 24 * 2 * 2 labels with a data matrix code on a label printer.

this is what optimism sounds like in the context of an update that's being shipped to hundreds of millions of users.

today, I made some hacky changes to a piece of the firefox testsuite and ran it. it was supposed to open *one* firefox instance. but, uh. yeah. that happened.

bonus effect was that it spawned new instances so fast, I couldn't even easily focus my terminal to ctrl-c it.

how I managed to reduce the memory usage of this NodeJS application from 120 MiB to ~0 MiB with this one weird trick

Logistiknetz.
