@ed_hawkins is the arctic sea ice graph mislabeled or is there a reason less of it is melting now?

Attached: 1 image This makes me very angry. These are anti-homeless benches designed to look pleasing. It’s called hostile architecture. They’re meant to be uncomfortable to discourage sleeping on. The people who designed these are assholes. They’re decorators, not designers. A designer makes things to improve the world for everyone. A decorator takes otherwise unpalatable injustices and disguises them with aesthetics in an attempt to make them inoffensive or even desirable. Be a designer, not a decorator.

@geekbrit @waldenecovillage none of the Nordic countries are in any way socialist. All their money comes from exploiting the third world and selling oil and that allows them to hide their exploitation better, though this hasn't stopped them from backsliding on their policies constantly. They cut back on benefits to the elderly and disabled constantly to appease capital and will inevitably fall into the same problems everyone else has. Socialism is worker ownership. Nothing more, nothing less.

@geekbrit @waldenecovillage there was a key word you missed there.

I said "anarcho-communist," as in, the branch of communism that believes in complete and total abolition of the state in all forms as soon as possible. The one used by the CNT FAI, KPAM, Makhnovia, Rojava, and the Zapatistas. None of these had/have any of the issues you claim "communism" has.

Also, "capitalism regulated by socialist ideals" is called state-capitalism and is what describes the USSR, China, NK, etc.

@danbrotherston @waldenecovillage how can bread costing money be a law of the universe when both bread and money are human inventions?

If you cannot separate modern industrial capital from all of history, how can your opinion on a future that progressively requires we move beyond it be valid?

@waldenecovillage reminder to everyone trying to use capitalist modes of production to justify letting families starve to death: that flag in the poster's name is the anarcho-communist flag. This post is about why capitalist modes of production are bad. If you can justify letting families starve with your economic model, then you need to change your economic model not let them starve.
@waldenecovillage because capitalism has pretty much taken over every aspect of life and our ethics are alienated by a system that promotes dominance, individualism and unfairness
